Salty Dog Lawn Care & Landscaping · Serving Carolina Beach

Landscape Design & Installation in Carolina Beach, NC

About 25 to 30 minutes from Leland heading north on US-17 through Wilmington, then south on US-421 across Snow's Cut bridge to the island.

Designing for a barrier island means accounting for salt air off the Atlantic, sandy soil that drains too fast and holds almost no nutrients, and coastal wind that burns foliage that would be perfectly fine five miles inland near Leland. The plant selection and bed preparation that performs well on a Brunswick County mainland property does not automatically translate to Carolina Beach. Species tolerance, soil amendment depth, and irrigation approach all shift when you are working a few hundred yards from the ocean, and the design has to start from those actual conditions.

Coastal Carolina plants face salt air, sandy soil, and brutal summer heat. We select species that survive the actual conditions rather than ones that look good at the nursery in March. Planting plans are drawn to scale before installation; beds are properly amended and mulched. We install trees, shrubs, ornamental grasses, perennials, and seasonal color for residential properties, HOA entrances, and commercial frontages across Brunswick, New Hanover, and Pender Counties.

About Carolina Beach

Carolina Beach sits on a barrier island between the Atlantic Ocean and the Cape Fear River, reached from Leland by heading north on US-17 through Wilmington and then south on US-421, Carolina Beach Road, across Snow's Cut and onto the island. The drive runs about 25 to 30 minutes in normal traffic. The island's geography shapes what lawn care and landscaping work actually looks like here: sandy, nutrient-depleted soil, salt air off the ocean, a high water table that makes drainage a real concern, and a property mix that ranges from tight oceanfront cottage lots to newer condo developments.

Common questions

Do you work on properties with tight lot access or oceanfront setbacks?

Yes. Constrained beach-cottage lots and narrow access are common on the island, and the crew comes prepared for those conditions. Call before booking to walk through your property specifics so the right equipment shows up on day one.

Do you handle one-time installation projects or only ongoing maintenance?

For Carolina Beach customers: both. We handle one-time landscape design and installation as well as ongoing maintenance. Many customers start with an installation project and then stay with us for regular upkeep afterward.

Jason and his crew did an amazing job putting a new patio in our yard. The pavers were exactly what we were looking for. Jason was very professional and took his time with us to understand what we were looking for, then he generated a computer image of what it would look like up against our house. Price was very competitive and right in our budget.
