Dethatching & Aeration

Lawn dethatching and core aeration for residential, HOA, apartment, and commercial properties across Brunswick, New Hanover, and Pender Counties.

Dethatching & Aeration

Centipede and Bermuda lawns — the most common turf types in coastal Brunswick County — build up thatch layers that block water and fertilizer from reaching roots. Core aeration and dethatching open the soil, improve drainage, and let treatments actually work instead of sitting on top. We time both services to the local grass type's growing cycle, not a generic spring/fall schedule.

Common questions

How do I know if my lawn needs dethatching?

Walk it. If the turf feels spongy and springy underfoot, or you can pull back the green blades and see a thick brown mat sitting on the soil, thatch has built up. Water pooling on the surface instead of soaking in is the other tell.

What is the difference between dethatching and aeration?

Dethatching pulls out the dead layer sitting on top of the soil. Aeration goes into the soil and removes plugs to relieve compaction, opening a path for air and water into the root zone. They address two separate problems, so a lawn on sandy, compacted coastal soil can need both.

Can you dethatch and aerate an HOA or apartment community?

Yes. We handle common areas, entrances and turf on HOA, apartment and commercial properties, and commercial work is quoted as a detailed proposal. Our process starts by meeting with you to look at the property and the specific challenges you are facing. Call (919) 685-2701.

Their owner came out to meet us. Their estimates were competitive, they were clear in their communications, punctual, and overall a pleasure with which to do business. There were no omissions or bad surprises! Our yard after 2 visits looks tremendous.

Jason and his crew did an amazing job putting a new patio in our yard. The pavers were exactly what we were looking for. Jason was very professional and took his time with us to understand what we were looking for, then he generated a computer image of what it would look like up against our house. Price was very competitive and right in our budget.
