Common questions
Do I need site grading if I am only putting in a patio?
Grade is worth looking at before any base work goes in. On flat, sandy ground, water that reaches a finished surface has no natural direction to run, so we check where the ground falls and cut it to a slope on purpose rather than scraping it level. How much grading your lot needs depends on what the ground is already doing, and that is something we can walk and look at with you.
My yard holds water after every heavy rain. Is that a grading problem?
It can be. Ground in this part of coastal North Carolina is flat, and once water soaks through sandy topsoil it has nowhere to go. Grading, drainage correction, or both may be involved. Call (919) 685-2701 and we will walk the property and go over where your water is running.
Do you handle site prep on new-construction lots?
